Jahangir Mahmood Waysi
Jahangir Mahmood Waysi was born in Paveh City, Iran in 1961 and received part of his education in Qasr-e Shirin and Baneh City before returning to Paveh to finish his studies in 1988. Although trained and offered a position as a teacher, Waisi was denied a career in teaching due to political discrimination. He subsequently retrained and worked in the electrical industry. Waisi writes fiction, poetry and journalism, and has been published in literary journals such as Sirwa, Mahabad, and Nimah, and in newspapers such as Azadi and the websites Nuryau Voice and Salam Paveh. He won the short story of the year prize at the Hawrami Literary Festival and is a member of International PEN.
